NSW Companion Card was launched in March. It is available to people with disabilities in NSW who require attendant care to support their participation in community activities and at venues.
The companion of the cardholder will be allowed free entry to a range of services and venues that have joined the scheme.
So far more than 240 have signed up to offer benefits for Companion Card holders. These include government facilities (including public transport and the Sydney Opera House) and private businesses (including Sydney Aquarium and Hoyts, Greater Union, Dendy and Reading cinemas).
To obtain an application form and for further information contact National Disability Services Companion on 1800 893 044 or see www.nds.org.au/nsw/companioncard.htm.
