Personal carer resource kit

Carer resource kitRecent pressures in the Attendant Care industry increase the need for competent personal carers. These workers reflect the professionalism of your organisation.

A kit has been developed by ParaQuad, with funding provided by the Motor Accidents Authority, that is designed to raise standards of care for people with a spinal cord injury by providing accessible and timely resources for training personal carers.

It is for any person or organisation wanting to train personal carers of clients with a spinal cord injury. The kit provides flexible information, training resources and assessment materials which can be packaged and modified to meet the needs of a diversity of training organisations and service providers.

The kit consists of a number of different documents corresponding with the main topics of:

  • Understanding SCI
  • Living with SCI
  • Personal care and SCI
  • Working safely

The kit is suited to a 'mix and match' approach, so that you can build a tailored solution to meet identified training and staff development needs. Use the kit for example to:

  • help develop a training program with learning resources;
  • prepare a self-paced learner's workbook; or
  • conduct workplace assessment.

The kit will only be available online as a series of PDF documents, so that it can be readily updated. It's an initiative of ParaQuad NSW and the Motor Accidents Authority (MAA). You will find it on the ParaQuad website (go to Resources -> Paraquad publications -> Fact sheets -> Carers Training Resource Kit).
